KNOW KIBA ANDERSON
Who is Kiba Anderson?
Kiba is a 34 year-old single father raising two sons and regularly assist with the raising of his deceased brother’s son.
Born at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and reared in Columbia, South Carolina.
He is a Self-employed Licensed Master Hair Stylist (Barber).
Why is Kiba Anderson running for a seat on Richland County Council?
Kiba is running to help improve the quality of life for all residents who live in Richland County, not just for District 7. Anderson has a sense of urge to give back to his community, particularly after having lost both of his only two brothers to violent deaths. Being the middle child, Anderson feels the compulsion to help others to experience a better way of life.
What are some of the things that Anderson plan to accomplish once elected?
Anderson recognizes and understands first hand some of the challenges that are facing our youth of today.
(A) Gang activities, violence and increase crime must come to an end! Ensuring organized and supervised activities of interest to young people with transportation provided will be a start. More and more grants and studies have been done to no avail. We need more men and women who can relate to the needs of these young people to make a commitment to get actively involved to help save our youth and take back our communities! Enough talking, discussions and meetings have taken place—it is now time for some real action! We must get the guns off the streets and I have a plan for that!!
(B) The elderly appears to have been forgotten. Sure we have the Senior Citizens Community Center on Parklane for those seniors who are able and capable of getting to and from the center to exercise, learn the computer, play games; but what about those who are not able to afford those things? What about the elderly who needs and require Respite Care? How many families can afford $48.00 a day for senior day care??
(C) Look at the enormous growth Richland County is experiencing with such poor infrastructure. If you are two (2) minutes late leaving home in the morning it can take you an extra 20 to 25 minutes to get to your destination due to the poor traveling routes.
(D) Billboards have been on the table for over a year and no logical decision has been made.
(E) Public Education must continue to improve and we must maintain excellent, quality education, in order to compete with the global society. Perhaps we must look at the way we are currently doing business and seek ways to change in order to accomplish better end results! Mental illness, homeless and the list goes on and on. These are just some of my thoughts and ideals, I realize our constituents have concerns that must be addressed, I want to hear from them and get their input.
I also would like to see the County and the City improve their working relationships, and perhaps look at combining/sharing some of their resources.
The main objectives are--it is-- a New Day, Times are changing, and we are obligated to determine different ways of getting things done more effectively and efficiently! I realize and acknowledge that I am only one person and I can not accomplish these goals along, we must work together to create these goal into a reality, and together we can make a change!
What Political experience does Anderson have?
Anderson is surely not a new comer to the political arena, he has not personally held an elected position, however he has assisted, presented and worked with his mother (Melinda Anderson, who is currently an active member and immediate past chair of Richland School District Two Board of Trustees) for the past eighteen years and assisted her in four consecutive victories for re-election. Anderson states his Common sense, intellectual communication skills, honesty, commitment and strong aspiration to make a difference in Richland County will help to carry him a long ways.
